Lexington Market | Baltimore Sun

We are excited and proud to be a part of the team revitalizing Lexington Market, one of the most authentic Baltimore landmarks in the city. Jacques Kelly, friend of Southway, ally to historic buildings, and columnist for the Baltimore Sun, wrote a great article about the history of Lexington Market and the latest work now underway.

The demolition covered in this article is just to the 1980’s version of the Lexington Market. There have been many versions of Lexington Market throughout the years, and we are so proud to be a part of it’s history.

Four Ten Lofts | Baltimore Sun

Baltimore Sun writer Jacques Kelly writes about the new venture in the Bromo Arts and Entertainment District that will provide artist and affordable housing at Four Ten Lofts. The building will be comprised of 48 units for working artist, 20 units for persons being helped by Health Care for the Homeless, and 8 market-rate units. The building is being constructed on a lot that was being used for parking for as long as anyone can remember. It is located just a few blocks north of the Hippodrome Theater.

Southway is extremely proud to have partnered up with Episcopal Housing Corp. and French Development LLC to provide affordable and artist housing to many in that neighborhood.

Hebrew Orphan Asylum | Baltimore Sun

After 15 years of advocacy, this “majestic” Baltimore landmark is finally restored. We’re proud to have played a role in the project for the past 7 years and see the transformation take place first hand. Check out the wonderful article Baltimore Sun writer Jacques Kelly wrote on Hebrew Orphan Asylum at the link below.

Kelly discusses the effort the community and community leaders put into saving the building, the struggle to just keep the building standing, and the plan for the building’s future. It will will now be called the “Center for Health Care and Healthy Living at the Hebrew Orphan Asylum.

22 Light Street | Baltimore Sun

Baltimore Sun’s Jacques Kelly writes about the history of the Lanahan Building (aka 22 Light Street), and it’s past as a liquor warehouse and the Oriole Cafeteria. He also discusses the plan for the building to be transformed into an living spaces comprised of 40 affordable housing units. 22 Light Street has many lives in the years since it was first built in 1904. It was built on the remains of the previous building that burned down in a fire prior to the new construction.

We are very proud to have partnered up with Osprey Property Co. to provide affordable housing to many in downtown Baltimore.

Lyon Homes | Baltimore Sun

The story of Henrietta Lacks and the help she gave to the medical community is unmatched and gives a deep history to this renovated area. Lyon Homes have come a long way from 1942 to the renovations still underway in 2018. For such a strong community to give affordable housing to those in need in the area for over 70 years is remarkable, and Henrietta Lacks would be proud to call this place home all these years later.

Southway is extremely proud to have partnered up with Chuck Tini and Telesis Baltimore to provide affordable housing to so many in the area.
